Opened the beast and picked up the former belt that is now a long piece of reinforced rubber.
Discovered the drum was extremely light ![Jig | [Dance]](https://codeproject.global.ssl.fastly.net/script/Forums/Images/jig.gif)
Motor shaft not visible from front, tension roller is visible 
Now I need to see about replacing it - the "OEM" replacement clearly looks different (wider) but the tension roller is easily wide enough. Now to find a vendor for the belt that will deliver soon enough so my unwashed clothes don't smell too much.

Well done! I spent a few hours this afternoon changing the heat sealer element on my vacuum sealer, which was a PITA - stupid little springs, nichrome wire, crimp terminals, silicon/PTFE tape ...
Works though, and at £2.50 worth of bits it was £140 less than replacing it.

A post I made here around 5 years ago involved a DIY task gone horribly wrong after watching a few youtube videos. 
Btw, did you know that you can swap out a hot water tank element without turning off the main connection? The only difference in their setup and mine was that the guy who plumbed mine more than 20 years prior, put the tank shutoff valve on the wrong side...major difference in the way it worked. 
Anyway, glad you had good results!

Usually I don't follow such videos because those folks are smart, while I am clumsy at hardware repair.
However, this time the task looked pretty straightforward.

That's where I find YouTube useful. I've done several repairs on my old beat-up venerable Honda Civic that at one time I would have paid my car guy to do for me.

I find useful the piano tutorials too (even if I am really bad at playing piano... ).

Normally I work on these cute little toy computers called PCs using C# and .NET, etc. and am happy and contented.
However, yesterday, since my boss happened to know I had once, long ago, worked on mainframes using, amongst other things, the dreaded COBOL, I found myself on a top priority, reverse engineering job to find out the algorithm used somewhere in "a million lines of COBOL"  that took some numbers in and pushed some resulting numbers out after doing "something" with them. Many of these programs had been first written in 1991 and much patched since then, most recently last year by a contractor, who is no longer with us, who left no useful documentation. 
How much coffee do you think I will be drinking in the next few days (or possibly weeks)? 
- I would love to change the world, but they won’t give me the source code.
