A paper published Monday in a well-known science journal begins with the following sentence: “It is a truth universally acknowledged that a pair of grape hemispheres exposed to intense microwave radiation will spark, igniting a plasma.” A universally acknowledged truth indeed... but what causes this microwave marvel? Grant money well spent. Now on to putting forks in the microwavev.

Sparks are nice. Personally I'd like grant money to study what they put in marshmallows to make them swell up in a microwave. I'd rub that formula on like suntan lotion at the beach and look like Arnold the Terminator after a few minutes in the sun. Might even have uses that put viagra out of business. Now thats a grant that would have some ROI to it.

Over the last few months, we’ve seen lots of thoughtful and passionate discussion throughout the community, on the blog, in Developer Community, and a bunch of social media sites. Through these previews, we were able to share some of the UI changes in this release. Aw, look. They do listen.

Cramming the title bar to save vertical space!
I develop on a portrait mode 16:9 screen and have oodles of vertical space. 
Everyone should do this - I should work for Microsoft to enforce portrait mode working and thereby reduce title clutter. I hate title clutter!

Remember that early 2000s software that extracted .zip files and just about any other file archive on your Windows PC, WinRAR? Better late than never?

That's about as long as I've had a license for it!hackers could manipulate WinRAR to extract a malicious program to a computer's startup folder. You've got to admit that that's an elegant trick.
It's a shame that I've had StartupMonitor[^] on every machine I've owned for about as long (I even built an installer to run it as a service), because simplicity and elegance should be rewarded.
But maybe shorter prison sentences would be reward enough.
And, I've gotta say, if you don't have something that monitors items being added to start-up locations and reg keys, you need a kick in the pants.
