One major flaw in a core function, sure.
That's how it works with cars, toothbrushes, coffee cups, and everything else.
Too many software houses have been immune to the consequences of inadequate QA for too long a time, but this is a "major flaw in a core function" that could result in people's lives being completely ruined for no reason at all.
I say: pull the plug.

I didn't read the article, but surely minority is subjective to where you are, so why not just train the AI across ethnic locations, or is that too simplistic.

I did read the article, the sub-headline is erroneous.
The gist is that the software is particularly dysfunctional when dealing with darker skinned people and females.

The reason people AREN'T developers is because they're not wired for it, and/or have no interest in being one. People like that that are given the tools are more of a liability than anything else.
Did you notice that the vast majority of the feature presenters in the video were women? And not only women, but reasonably attractive women. So, even if you're pretty, you can be a programmer too.
