So I want to host a small sql server prototyping database, a core 2 web api and deploy a wpf app via click once. Naturally I turn to MS and Azure, create a MS account and give them all my details. The first thing I want to do is transfer the existing database to Azure SQL Server.
Go through all the steps to create the database (very simple process) and note the cost per month 22.66 AUD! and that is just for the database, they probably want more for hosting the web api and the clickonce deployment.
When I can use someone like A2 hosting for 5 USD a month they are not going to get much traction with me I'm afraid.

It turns out I am just getting the sales spam, no follow up after I told them they were outrageously expensive compared to other options.
I did not get past the initial implementation of a sql database as they told me the monthly cost after the free period was $22+ so I don't know what the ongoing cost would actually be for a full service suite. I guess we are not the target market, too small so there is no investment by the sales team, can't really blame them.

The so-called "free" Azure crap they give you with the MSDN membership is an utter scam. Doing almost anything invokes a "paid subscription required" message.

The guys in M$ are really crossing all limits beyond idiocy... 
I log into an account, that I have almost 20 years and that I use pretty often. I just ordered something and I wanted to forward the receipt to another email that I use for this...
"We need to verify your account, please introduce a phone number, we will send you a code"
 I don't see the need, but OK.
I type the code, click send... nothing.
I try it again...
Error: We have encountered an error, something in the activity of your account is suspicious and has been blocked.
 
I log off... log in...
Message: "We have detected that your account was being use to send suspicious emails and has been blocked, if you want to unblock..."
Grrrr.... OK. Give me a new code.
Message: Your limit for activation codes have been reached, please try again tomorrow....

Sounds like my bank. I was in Bolivia trying to buy a ticket to go home, credit card denied. Call bank international long distance.
Nice lady says my card has been frozen for suspicious activity, someone is trying to use it to purchase an airline ticket in Bolivia. My question, do you see a note indicating I'm traveling?Her: Yes. Well I'm the one using the card, because I want to go home.
Her:Sorry, sir, but it's for your protection.
Me: Actually, it's for my harrassment, because the only problem is that you froze the card for no good reason. Can you recommend a better card that won't hassle me ?

It seems to be a security pattern that a few software providers have followed.
Teamviewer has something similar where if the client you are trying to log into is not responding and you try logging in more than x(nobody tells you what x is) number of times you get a message telling you that there have been multiple failed logged attempts and you need to wait for a while before trying to log in again(yet again there is no hint as to how long you have to wait before trying again.)
What really rankles about Teamviewer is that even if you have the correct credentials, if the login attempt fails because of some unknown reason - that still counts towards your incorrect login attempt count.
