Sure, but "pseudophotosynthesis" doesn't really have a ring to it, and it certainly doesn't roll off the tongue (of anyone who isn't the worst kind of pr0n star) -- but one main main advantage is that it's almost a full tweet on its own, thus limits rabid comments from a certain-coloured person who lives in a certain-coloured house.
Still, I'm sure that a better name could be found for the process.

The basic meaning of "pseudo" is "false". Since this process actually creates something real, but from a man-made artificial process, I would propose the term "artificialphotosynthesis" or some such. But, maybe that exposes my ignorance, perhaps "psuedo" also means "artificial"?

"Pseudo" means "sort of"*, sort of, but "artificial" means "man made" ("made by artifice").
You're getting closer with your proposal, though, because it has more syllables -- all we need is to Americanise it a bit, with a suffix like "~ication".
* I was going to be horrible, and say "pseudo" quasi means "quasi", sort of, but I think something's wrong with my brain, today. I'm being far too nice.

So you can either trust google, or someone with a doctorate in English.
Pseudo = "something not quite the same as the thing it is named after/identified with/associated with" -- in this case, "not quite the same as photosynthesis". This can include "fake", true, but the fact that an IF statement can include an ELSE statement does not mean that an IF statement is an ELSE statement.

I'm just going out on a limb here, but I'd imagine they could fit a few copies of Office into their 1 B Euro budget?

If done right, and documented and followed up on correctly, this could be the project that makes me take Linux seriously. That is, if it leads to a standard Linux distro without dependency upon the command line, and other arcana I just don't have time for.
