I totally agree, this issue frequently bugs me. What kind of computer system requires repeated instruction to perform a simple task? It also goes against software etiquette which is why I was very surprised MS did this. I was taught the importance of including visible 'grab-points' on windows. Sure, it may free up some screen space, perhaps they were catering for those tediously microscopic display screens on mobiles. The lesson is, I think, that one operating system can not solve all problems: 'horses for courses' as they say. Windows has tried to hard to be a one-man band.

It's a basic smart watch for kids. Has GPS tracking, and has a feature where the kid can text or voice call a select list of recipients (usually dad/mom/nanny).

That's about $95 more than I'd consider giving to a kid who's almost assured to lose/break it within a year.

I don't have any Apple products at home - no phone/laptop/tablet/other-device. So I am not sure I want to spend that kinda money when there's no existing ecosystem to fit it into.

I'm with you. Although I do own a MacBook laptop--but only because I wanted to learn how to get around with MacOS and not be completely useless when faced with a Mac.
Although I bought it used, just to make sure Apple never got a penny from me. I refuse to contribute to that fund.
