a Google Chrome leader said:
trying to make that change too soon could actually hurt the web by driving developers to mobile apps instead
Ridiculous.
The naivete of that statement is typical of liars and psychopaths, who will say anything at all to make people do what they want.
Justin Schuh said:
At our scale, it's not reasonable to move too fast, because it's too destructive
Oh, I think the web will weather it just fine.

Advertisers will still advertise on the web, they just won't all be paying google tons extra, on top of the advertising costs, for ineffective "targetting", so millions of small businesses will be richer, and be able to invest in better web-sites.

We'll pay subscription fees for some things -- some newspapers and streaming video sites, for example -- but it's not clear we'll pay for everything to avoid prying advertisers
Um, paying people to not do something to you would be what's known as a protection racket.

Ya don' a-wannus ta take-a ya data anna do whaddevva we wan' with it, ya godda pay, see?

Mind you, that's not really any worse than google's current business model.
I wanna be a eunuchs developer! Pass me a bread knife!
