Improving soft skills. TL;DR go to the end.
Having little kids around the whole day is one of the hardest trainings for soft skills:
- Patience (obvious)
- Imagination / Creativity: To keep boredom away from them you need to come with something new everyday or even a couple of times a day, the ideas can be then reused other days, but still you need something new constantly.
- Communication: Talking with a 3,x years old is challenging beyond limits. You think they are too young to understand some things, but then they come with variations of what you say, offers, deals... in order to get you do funny things for them or to avoid things they don't want to do. You really have to convince them with arguments to do some things, but you can't overcomplicate the arguments because they are still kids and the attention span is limited. You have to be short, understable, self confident...
- Be nice / Anger control: You can't be angry for them being kids. They might annoy you sometimes, yes, but because they do it because they are enthusiastic about something and want to share it with you or they just miss you and have you at home without being able to be with you is though for them too.
- Self management: You have to do things, no matter if you want it or not. So better get it odered / scheduled right and have a big buffer for improvisation, because kids can be random and you need to readjust your agenda several times a day.
- Think first / speak later / be consequent / keep your word: If you just try to fool your kid with a "let me end this and then we do XXX", he / she will remember it and be the hell of disappointed at you if you don't do it. You might get over with "I forgot", "I had something else to do" or whatever excuse once or twice, after that you will start having troubles that are more serious than many people think. They are young, but not dumb. And they remember things for much longer than you think (at least when it is something important for them, and you can't never be sure because the priorities of a kid is different to yours and to other kids)
- Own responsibility sense: Kids can do things in purpose, yes. But they are not bad (usually). Anyways, no matter what they do, it is still your responsibility if they act wrong. The faster you see it, the easier it is to get with it and manage to get a solution using other skills above.
All these and many more I am not writing because the post is already long enough are things that can help you for sure at work / "normal" life. Don't underestimate the children. You have to educate them yes, but they can teach you a lot if you are willing to learn from them too.
TL;DR: I am learning technical things in working time because I need them for our next big project. But my spare time is already owned by my family / private responsibilities and I am proud of it (althought there are moments that it is easier to go away and sit back in front of the computer, you can't always do it)

Ravi,
When not at work, I am a very gregarious person. Until this Covid19 thing.
Now, when not working, I stay indoors and watch TV. I used to go out, go to the gym, take my wife to dinner, etc.
So, my habits have indeed changed, just not as it relates to work. I interpreted the survey question to apply to Developers who work normally in teams, but don't now. I do tend to over-think things.
You intentions, thoughts, aspirations and hopes don't matter outside of your head. Only you actions matter outside in the real world. Those are what everyone else must put up with.

I miss an answer that would define my situation.

Since my employer (CEO directly) told us, that Home-Office is the biggest of all evils, there is no real change. The only change is, that the streets are now emptier than usual. I even heard that hose, who are on Home-Office will get their payments reduced (reduced worked hours).

I am not getting my payment reduced, but I am forced to reduce my extra hours saldo.
The ones sent home mandatory are getting 90 or 95% of salary and not touching saldo.
I still prefer my part, since most of them are production or suplly chain related, working on shifts and other staff I don't like.

As an introvert, the social distancing is what I've been waiting for. Unfortunately, video meetings are just as annoying as the "Whatcha' doin', when you gonna' be done, watcha' gonna' be doin'next?" meetings.
This reminds of the INFJ saying
"Why are introverts forced to socialize more while extroverts aren’t told to be quiet more?"
It was broke, so I fixed it.

With little else to do, I find myself working weekends, using that time to complete lower priority and, frankly, more fun to work on, tickets for work.

Nope, habits, if you can call them that, have definitely changed. I don't miss the noise level of the office and I would love to miss the jackhammering that starts at 7 AM outside my house as they replace the bridge. Not kidding.
I'm not currently practicing social distancing
I have friends who are caring for elderly that never (the elderly people) leave their homes. My friends who take care of those elderly are extremely aware of the potential risk they themselves can pose and therefore are also practicing social distancing beyond what the guidance is. I do go to the Farm Store to buy groceries for an elderly couple and drop it off on their doorstep. The Hawthorne Valley Farm Store is taking some serious measures - limiting the number of people at one time in the store, plastic screens by the cashiers, masks and gloves, every morning before they open they sanitize everything.
Sadly just up the road we have a 120 person elderly care facility that now has 8 infections and one death, all in the last few days. Because of lack of test kits, they can only "screen" the workers, which is BS, as is evidenced by the infections and the death. Google "Pine Haven Philmont NY". One of my friend's 97 year old mom resides there.

I feel partially your pain. I am going to the stores and buy for tow and sometimes for three houlsholds, except of this week because I was sick myself (not corona). My brother in law is tomorrow replacing me.
My mother already died in in November and my father is solo 2200km away. I don't know if we will be able to fly this year on vacation and just hoping he doesn't get into the statistics and my little one can play with him in the beach at least once.

For me some of the statements of our politicans (in Germany) could very fast become "a little" dangerous.
I think that living with a good "Augenmaß" will be the best way in this time ...
And ... what is the real difference between my private social contacts and those I have at work (where all this rules are not longer valid) ...?

1. A single answer is required, but more than one response applies to me
2. There's no mention of books - it's a bit old-fashioned I know, but they're still being published and they're still useful
