I like having smarter guys to do what I say. I will never be a hectic hardcore programmer. I get stuck into every part of a project including the clients and that is what I enjoy. By smart guys I mean guys I can hand out the specific requirements to and get back a working block of code. I can come up with the ideas but heaven forbid me havint to actually do the number crunching algorithm for it.

Some people worry that smarter co-workers means you get left behind and stuck in a dark corner. Well, thats pretty true. Our "non-smart" guys end up doing maintenance work for a long, long time.

But if you are in a leadership role and can do the Baffle and Bullshit routine with clients then having smart co-workers is a great thing.

(Naturally I am assuming smart as in technically smart. Not smart as in business or client handling.)
