Try viewing the site with an in private session. This should disable any extensions that may be affecting your browser.

Yep, that does make a difference. Now trawl through the set of extensions to see which one is causing it.

Most of the time, I received no notification from my article forum's new thread or post from my readers: Like this article. Only once in a blue moon, I received an email notification.

I suspect the notification is sometimes lost when CP is overloaded with many online users. My humble suggestion is to push every notification onto a queue whereby a worker thread shall dequeue from this queue to email and/or notify the member.

What do you think?

It looks like your account is set up to receive forum message notifications in your email, so please try something for me. Go to the article forum, hover over "Email Alerts" then check the Email Me box you prefer, then the "Send them" you would prefer, and press "Update." For anyone who has had problems in the past with this, this fixes it.

Yes for Lounge, B&S and S&A (other forums I'm not active) I get notifications. Only Q/A is a "problem".

I was going to suggest you to check your settings if the "Send me an e-mail when someone replies to my messages" was selected, but if Forums and so on works... then nothing.

Sorry, I was imprecise in the description. I am talking about the notifications which show me this red flag in the browser. I am not interested in the email notifications.
But maybe they are related in Q/A?

Finally I checked "Enable Quick Anser notification emails" and I get the "red flag" notifications now.
On the other hand why I get the "red flag notifications" without having emails activated for the other two?

Earlier today I had something like 9800+ Author reputation points, which is now 8500+. Some other categories dropped a bit too, because the total loss was maybe something like 1600.

I finally got to creating a background service that recalculates the Reputation points.
It appears that the old code had some bugs, and the old values were not up to date and in some cases were either missing some points or double counted points.

You must have had some phantom extra points that have now be corrected.
Sorry about that, but at least the points will be closer to reality and agree with the Rep Graph.

Point fluctuations were minor but I thought I'd point out this observation (as Feedback from Bob's Trenches):

I had a slightly lowered total yesterday when I refreshed the rep list - explained above. When I refreshed it this AM, two points were dropped and there was, indeed, a -2 in the list from a rather old Q&A.

The thing of note is that right after it on the list (ca 3 hrs later) was a +24 up vote. If the -2 were just counted and the +24 seemed to have occurred afterwards, maybe the update algorithm's still a bit funky?

Individual Rep events are added to the list immediately.

The Member Total and Graph are updated by a periodic background process, so it will take some time for them to sync up.

Currently the background task runs every 15 minutes, so you should be up to date now, and looking at your account, it looks like it is.

Let me know if you see any other problems.

One other problem: as it turns out, OG's got about 1,532,353 points that really should be mine.

From Monday Aug 10 to now, I've gotten 45 51 author points from itemized events, but my total has only gone from 8515 to ~~8549~~ 8555. Unless there's a significant latency, something's wrong.

Sorry to mention it, but I was really close to 10,000 when your fix ruined everything, and I'm still rankled. Laugh | :laugh:

I queried the database directly to check your points and they are correct.
If you click and hold, you can select a part of the Rep Graph to zoom in.
Looking at yours at the current state
Last week you had 8504 Author points
Now (11 Aug 3:15 EDT) you have 8568
