The freedom of the West is at stake, Putin won't stop at Ukraine.
Literally the whole of Europe is feeling this (not as bad as Ukraine though), but I'm sure you're more comfortable with another CCC or another cricket post.
This guy is telling us his friends and family are being killed, his homes destroyed, and all you say is you really don't need to know 
You, and the "no politics in the lounge"-police, could use some empathy.

What is the criteria that allows politics in the lounge? What is the dividing line?
Politics are banned here (and in other non-technical forums I visit) to reduce arguments. If we start making exceptions, then we have fights regarding the politics of those exceptions ...
As has been noted, there are many places where the discussion is allowed. This is not one of them.
If anyone is angry at me for posting this, well, you've proven my point.

Not because of the no politics rule or people pointing that out when politics are posted, but because someone is scared for his life, scared for his loved ones, scared for losing everything he has and he lets us know he's okay for now AND PEOPLE CAN'T GET OVER THE POLITICS OF HIS POST!?
Maybe you've missed his point.
His point was "I'm not dead (yet), but I may soon be", not to start a political discussion.
And instead of "Be strong, you have our support, hang in there, glad you're doing okay!" He get's "I'm getting really tired of your troubles." And "No politics in the Lounge."
You people suck.
You must all be programmers because you have the social skills and empathy of a potato

Having tried it on my Surface Pro a while back and not liking it , is anyone on here happy with it ? can it be set it up to resemble Win 10 cosmetically if not functionally ( I've only just got used to Win 10 ) I feel if I continue to resist upgrading the more painful it will be when I'm forced to. Using it...
Not a big deal to me, I decided to "upgrade" to avoid a mess with some industrial software license.
By now, my laptop works more or less as it did before, just a couple of bugs bother me:
1. from time to time I need to restart because the notification area gets withe-ish background with white letters (impossible to read anything there).
2. When graphics are involved, sometimes it crashes and resets the graphics user (game or similar).
More pleasant sounds, nicer graphical organization of things, less powerful start menu, more clicks to select the computer power settings...
for my use case (programming industrial applications) it works.

Running it since the release Small driver issue causing dwm.exe to leak memory now and then. Not a big deal in my situation, but would be annoying if tight on RAM. Apparently there is a fixed driver from Intel, but Dell did not yet roll it out through their driver install app, and it is not problematic enough for me to bother hitting a manual download link like one or another peasant. 
I do run a 3rd party app to get the time on all monitors.
Besides that, not much going on. It is just Windows 10.0.22000 - not even 10.1. Marketing just decided to call it Windows 11.

Been on W11 for a week. The buttons on the taskbar align in center, instead of left. Also took me a minute to copy/paste in Explorer, since it hides those options by default.
No complaints otherwise.

Right-click the taskbar and select Taskbar options ⇒ Taskbar behaviours ⇒ Taskbar alignment: left.

It doesn't hide them - they're right at the top of the new context menu. They just don't have labels next to them, so you have to guess which icon relates to which option.

I have it on both Surface and desktop - it's OK, but the children have been playing and there and "Nice things" you could do in 10 that 11 doesn't allow as the script kiddies that wrote the new stuff didn't care to look at what it did. So the taskbar is stuck to the bottom of your main monitor (or all of them) instead of you deciding where you wanted it (and it's taller as well); windows explorer right click menu has sod-all in it (to rename a file you have to right click, then select "show more options" to see the original right click menu); the redesigned apps no longer highlight the title bar so you can see which is the active app; Some apps now get rounded corners (but not all of them); that sort of thing.
There are a couple of good bits - the entry textbox is more obvious in some apps thanks to a solid blue line at the bottom. And ... oh, give me time, I'll think of something ... Nope. That's about it.
It's OK. it's not "Win7 vs Win8" again, it's just ... rather bland and unexciting.

Not yet, and not ever. I see no value added to Windows 11 that would persuade me to upgrade.
The home computer doesn't meet the minimal requirements, and IT at work have not decided to upgrade.

I was reluctant to get it but about a month ago I finally installed it and am happy with it. I've found a couple of minor problems but overall seems stable and intuitive.
The less you need, the more you have.
Even a blind squirrel gets a nut...occasionally.

My current gripe with W11 is that my mouse jumps rather that moving smoothly and click seem to take a while to be acknowledged; meaning that I have had documents where bocks of text appear to randomly be moved about as old mouse moves and clicks take place in different places from where they were when I did the actions; and it also causes me to have to click the 'shutdown' button twice
It is not the mouse - it is connected via a KVM to two PCs, the other is a W10 and it is fine on that and I've tried swapping ports on the KVM.
My past niggles include the centered task bar (various safe resolutions including the one in one of the earlier responses to this thread); and not being able to r-click the task bar to get Task Manager - easily got around by putting Task Manager as an icon on the task bar.
I also have a minor problem with Outlook 2021 (native, not O365) which is unresponsive (e.g. you cannot open emails / select folders) when it is doing a Send/Receive; but I do not know if that is related to W11 or not - it did not happen with Outlook 2019 on W10.
Apart from that, W11 seems OK to me. It looks a bit different but it is still handles like other versions of Windows (98, XP, 7, 10).

Updated a couple of VM's and it is OK. No worries. I am using it more than 10. Like any other Windows "update", takes some getting used to and customization. If the masses are going to run it and I need to make sure my code runs, I adopt it. I neither love nor hate the OSes I use. I just try to adjust and minimize my bitching.
I do not own a computer with native Windows.
My native OSes are still LMDE, ESXi, and TrueNAS. I do not champion them, I just use them.

I once again found myself in need of sketching some diagram on the computer. I'm used to deal with Dia, a dozen other UML programs, PowerPoint and whatsnot, due to my previous companies not wanting to spend anything on anything.
This time I'm no longer working for an el-cheapo company so I tried for the first time Microsoft Visio. Where the ![Elephant | [mastadon]](https://codeproject.freetls.fastly.net/script/Forums/Images/elephant.gif) was it when I needed it?? It is easy, fast, comfortable and the output layouts actually don't suck.
Say what you will against Microsoft but some of their products are actually very good.
