I see no use for a curved monitor when I can spread my desktop over multiple monitors and "angle" them any way I want. A single view that is greater than (say) 27", means you have to back up (or swivel your eyes / head) at some point in order to take it all in (depending on your eyes).

In spite of that, I just can't shake the feeling it would be a poor replacement for my current setup (which, granted, is not without its own flaws).

Yes, while I didn't have that particular issue, what happened was my visual system started to compensate for the curvature so ultimately the monitors appeared flat. When looking at an actual flat screen, it appeared to bow out. Who knows what it did to my world perception. I ditched them eventually, it took months for my visual system to recover to where flat was flat.
They should put a warning on these things that it'll f*** with how you see things.

I have never used a curved monitor and have no intention to do so in this lifetime or the next. 
However, a couple of developers I have worked with in the past had used them. One liked it, the other did not. The one that did not like the curved monitor went back to their prior dual 27inch monitor setup.
Don't really know why the one did not like the single curved monitor.
I currently use both at home and at work, a dual 27inch monitor setup. The only way to fly IMHO.

I think the responses you have received so far and more unusual than not. The fact is they sell a LOT and new models continue to be released. That indicates clearly they are quite popular among the general public.
I have one and I like it quite a bit. Unfortunately it doesn't have quite enough pixels for me to use for development but it works good with games. At this point, I am unlikely to get a bigger one since the ones I want cost considerably more than two monitors of acceptable resolution and performance and I don't think that cost is worth the benefits of a single monitor.

mine (see below) is not that expensive and I got it with a deal (15% off) back then I paid 390€ or so.

I think one's demands are different when it comes to programming and text editing, versus gaming. Most gaming action is focused on the center of the screen ... and only the cat presents a distraction.
(I wouldn't use 2+ monitors to play a game, while I find it "impossible" to program with only 1).

I can't find any sources that support that. I do find others that say that is not true. I could not find any stats at all.

I have only empirical data from various tech sites that have articles about new models of curved monitors being released all the time. I visit several sites and there seems to be an average of one new curved monitor per week.
TVs are entirely different matter. The main difference is one usually sits quite a bit closer to a computer monitor than they do to a TV. I see little point to having a curved TV for that reason.

When I lost my right eye in 2020 I shopped around for a new, larger monitor since my remaining left eye is crappy.
I looked at both flat and curved monitors in the stores. I chose a flat monitor for my development machine. Curved monitors are great for watching movies because your visual field seems a little more immersive. I didn't like the effect when I had a wall of text on the screen. It was also really bad when I tried editing graphics because of the distortion.

For very large monitors it makes you turn your head slightly less.

I remember dropping the old CRT screen, that was curved the other direction, for a flat screen.
It took a while to get used. The flat screen seemed to curve inwards in the beginning.
If it's just about text you'll probably get used. If you're doing technical/geometrical drawings it's probably a bad idea to get used.

As of now I only use the FREE email service.
Are any of you using any of these new features?
I am most interested in cloud the storage.

I have a 55" 4k QLED I bought last year that I use as my primary dev machine monitor. It saves space in my living area because it doubles as a nice widget for watching netflix and such, all from the remote. It's wall mounted behind my desk so when I'm not at it, it doubles as my TV as I suggested. This is somewhat important to me, for space considerations.
I need the size because I use it for dev. I am not a fan of multi monitor setups, so I use this screen like 4 1080p monitors stacked together. If it wasn't 55" I'd have to grow the font and lose screen real estate.
They updated the firmware last night without my consent and destroyed my TV's functionality. Now whenever you turn it on it no longer remembers your last input source. It goes to "Samsung TV", a "free" streaming service that I guarantee you nobody actually uses, and whose primary purpose seems to be giving Baywatch pretend relevance. It turns it on complete with sound.
I contacted support about it. I didn't get anywhere, other than if I go through the TVs menus, reset to factory, and refuse any terms and conditions, i can get rid of the smart TV functionality altogether. I'm almost there, but I paid extra for the smart functionality, so I'm not going to be satisfied with that.
This seems a lost cause, short of rooting the TV and replacing it with custom firmware, which is risky.
I'm thinking of giving it to my sister, and buying an LG, but before I do:
Does anyone here have experience with LG OLED Smart TVs? I figure some of you seem to like nice stuff, so maybe you have one. They're certainly in the "nice stuff" price point. I'm not buying samsung anything, ever again. Shame our entire kitchen is samsung. Not after we move. They've lost me. What they did to my TV is nothing short of asinine, and I won't do business with someone that makes terrible decisions like that.
I've never owned an LG anything, except perhaps maybe a forgettable phone once upon a time. Are their TVs any good? Should I go with someone else? I want OLED, and 55". I figure if I'm throwing good money after bad at this point, I may as well go all in. I've got a $1500 USD budget or thereabouts but it's flexible - not set in stone. That's just the topish end of my price point for what i think is "reasonable" for such a device these days.
I will happily take any advice, non samsung recommendations, or experience with LG OLEDs in response with thanks because it will be really helpful.

I have an LG OLED 55" used only as TV. Image quality: super, functionality: meah. Their OS is called webOS and it's only merit is to be annoying. Comes complete with LG channels which are about as useful as your Samsung ones. Besides, to see them you have to accept conditions like LG monitoring everything you see. Data is absolutely safe and there have been no leaks. You probably have also to give rights to your first born child or something; wouldn't know as I stayed out of it. The remote control is also some type of mouse that you wave in front of the screen just like you probably do with your magic wand; should come natural to you, being a witch, but not to mere mortals like me.
On the bright side, it remembers last input source. Isn't that nice?

That's the main thing for me. Another person with a Gen 2 told me the remote has source buttons on it. Does yours?
If so I could deal with the annoying OS.

Mine has one "source" button. You press it and select with the wand/mouse the source you want.
