I did this exact same thing. I worked backwards from the State/ZIP. You can identify the State because there is a limited set of them for example last word is "York", then scan for "New" in the second to last. The rest is the city. You can grab a list of states from source html for option boxes on the internet.

Id say you should include an Austalian, an English, an American and at least one non english speaking country in your test data.
Perhaps you could define a template for each style of address (post code format etc) and then select the template based on the country (there are a limited set of countries) and they parse the address using the information in the template.

Hi I posted a message yesterday as well but i dont still get it what should i do....
it is very simple.. but i have never worked with forms and i only know about consule project. iostream!!
I am trying to build a form and run a specific application with it. I am already made the project as a console project using fstream.
I want to get the name of the file from the user in a specific text Box and then open it as follows:
char fileName[];
ifstream infile;
infile.open(fileName);
However what i get from the textbox is String *f = textBox->Text;
How can i convert this to char[]?
I have already tried char fileName[]=f->ToCharArray(); but it seams there is a problem and i cant convert _wchar to char!!
how can I do this?
is there another way to open the file ?

Are you trying to get the string from editobx?
If you go with MFC..
CString str_FileName;
CEdit * pEditBox = ( CEdit * )GetDlgItem( ResourceIDForYourTextBox );
pEditBox -> GetWindowText( str_FileName );

Hi There,
I did a program in VC++ 6.0 for change Password(fields: username / password / new password / confirm new password ).
It is based in MFC (Dialog).
The program is running no problem.
The question is that i need to show a message (like TIP TOOL message) when user will enter with the new password and the CAPSLOCK KEY is actived it should shows a message like: "WARNING: YOUR CAPS LOCK KEY IS ON" it is like a TOOLTIP message, but the diference is that tooltip is based in mouse events and this is based if the CAPS LOCK is turned ON... but the message i want to say is like TOOL TIP message...
Please, can someone help me???
About CAPSLOCK KEY verification it is okay, i am having problems just in the question of SHOW THE MESSAGE!

There are two ways of doing this:
OnTextBoxChange (message handler)
OnKeyDown
Use GetKeyState ... look it up on the MSDN find the corresponding VK_ for the caps lock.
example:
if (GetKeyState(VK_LCONTROL) & 0xfffe)>0)
Use a MessageBox or if you want to go the extra mile there are articles here about the MSN popup dialog boxes (search for it ) and XP bubble windows.

I am trying to display full path of specific folder in my computer
I've developed this application on japanese os. When i try to run
it on English OS japanese language install, I can't input full path
in CDataGrid properly. It always displays C:\ instead of the specific
path. does any with same experience and figured this proble?

I have some video files in different formats - avi, divx, wmv, asf, mpeg, ...
I can open and play them using DirectShow.
But I have 2 problems :
1. I don't know how to detect the video format.
I know DirectShow will do this for me, but I need to notify user,
wheter is it divx,xvid,mpeg 4, or some other format.
Detecting by file extension is not reliable , and not possible, since more formats are using .avi extension.
2. How to find out, whether video file contains audio ?
Like Windows media player grays out volume control when movie does
not contain the sound.

I don't know how many surround speakers be supported with my speaker. I heard that it maybe can be getted with the DirectSound, but I don't how to do. Someone can help me? I finished a project which runs in debug mode but when i want to make a release i get the following error:
StdAfx.obj : error LNK2019: unresolved external symbol __imp__wcscpy referenced in function "unsigned short * __stdcall ATL::CharLowerWFake(unsigned short *)" (?CharLowerWFake@ATL@@YGPAGPAG@Z)
mfcs70.lib(stdafx.obj) : error LNK2001: unresolved external symbol __imp__wcscpy
This was a MFC project build and compiled/linked perfectly on a VC6 platform, seems like VC7 can't convert it correctly.
Anyone any ideas?

normally this would be created at the start of the project, but i didnt think that i would require
one, however i now need to add one to my project

Create 2 dummy SDI projects. One with and one without HTML help enabled. You then need to look for the differences between the two any apply these changes to your existing project.
Thats probably the best route to follow.

I am trying to create a database application using the Win32 API and by using ado.
pSet is my recordset pointer.
If I do this:

pSet->MoveNext();<br />
it works. And if I do this:
<br />
pSet->MoveFirst();<br />
It also works. But when I do:
<br />
MovePrevious();<br />
or
<br />
MoveLast();<br />
It doesnt work and it gives an "Abnormal termination" error!??! 
Can someone help me?

I am not an expert in this but if i am not wrong there are two types of recordset dynaset and something else. The feature you are looking for is availabe in one of them and not both.Just try to get more information about it.

MAYBE your database service provider/driver does not support theese operations (backward seeking).
Every database engine supports another set of functions, I'm not sure whether all databases supports this type of seeking
