When I load a xfdf file into the control it stops responding. This is strange since acrobat reader.exe loads xfdf's without a hitch. Anyone have a solution or ran into this before?

I don't understand... are you trying to implement the OCX on your application? Or is it that your getting an error with Adobe Acrobat Reader.. you should ask them, but if you mean like using it in your own application... I think you need a license for it and there is a lot of security built into it, probably the Adobe style  anyways, you should ask them for more info.

Very simple. Just drop the activex control from adobe acrobat reader into a form. When the src property is set to the path of an xfdf file the control hangs. Note that xfdf files are fully supported in the (free) adobe acrobat reader.exe.

I have a long CString that I am displaying in a multi-line edit box control using m_EditBoxVarName.SetWindowText("string");
Works great except that the line breaks (which I have as \n) show up as squirrely little vertical lines.
How do you format a CString so that the Edit Box will display:
This is the first line!
This is the second line!
instead of:
This is the first line!|This is the second line!

I forgot myself but I think its something like \n\t or something like that... Can anyone else help? I don't have alot of time to look into this problem since I am programming with DX and forgot some MFC.

I got it - thanks. It is \r\n I forgot about PCs needing that extra character.

As an FYI if you use the richedit control you won't run into this. It can handle \n, \r, or \n\r without a problem. It's only the simple edit control that is this brain dead.

Is there a (shortcut) way to convert a numeric to a character? For example, a numeric 9 to a character "9", or a numeric 365 to a character "365".
Neither 'static_cast', 'reinterpret_cast', nor '(char)' does it, and it doesn't matter if the number is signed or unsigned, no cast seems to do it.

Recently I tried to compile a file with Devcpp, but I couldn´t because it doesn´t have file.h.
do you know what compiler has this libraries?

From CreateProcess's documentation I have gathered that the max command line length is 32K. Is there a predefined macro similar to _MAX_PATH, or do I have to define my own?

Not that I am aware of. Also be aware that different (older) versions of windows have much shorter command line length limits.

We specifically target Win2k and above. By older, do you mean Winnt4 and Win9x/Me?

I can't recall when it increased by I think you're fine with W2K and later.

you must insert a static in your dialog (manually or initialised in OnInitDialog()) and write into it with the SetWindowText() CWnd member function.

Hi, I've made it so certain file types are associated with my program. When I double click on the file it starts my program, but doesn't load the file. In order to open it in my program I need to get the location of the file so that the program can actually do something with it. I assume it is sent to the program some how, but I don't know how I can get it. My program is a dialog app if it makes any difference.

I think you have to parse the command line passed to your application, it should (i think) have the full path to the file

Hi. I like the fact that doc/view does all the printing stuff for me, but it's the size of it on the printed page that's the problem. How do i make the data from my view bigger on the printed page? Right now it prints extremely small and it's unusable without a magnifying glass. This project i'm working on has a deadline so i need some help as soon as possible.

You can use different fonts, sizes etc. for printing to what is used for display. Just set the font into the CDC used for printing. Typically you would let the user choose the font they want to use. This is what I do in ED (see sig).
