Hi,

if i just buy a VC++.Net but not the whole Visual Studio.Net
package, can I still use it to develop software for Pocket PC 2003/Smartphone by using the compact framework extension ?

and can I develop software on PocketPC/Smartphone by using
C# ?

CoInitialize(NULL) Failing in Pocket PC!

I get an error when running a application in the Pocket PC emulator.

Both CoInitialize(NULL) and CoInitialize(NULL,COINIT_MULTITHREADED) are failing!

I don´t now what to do! Cry | :((

I´m trying to run the windows media player sample application in the pocket pc emulator, when I run it with the standard wince sdk emulator it works, but running it in the pocket pc emulator fails.

Please, help me, regards dani

I'd like to have Russian labels and strings in menu ( in other word - full russian version Smile | :)

in my programm, but in pocket it looks bad. Looks like it can't find properly the charset.

Try downloading a font with Russian characters to the \Windows\Fonts folder and use it. It can be one that you have on your desktop.

I think you didn't undesrtand what i meant - this cause of my bad english.
If i want to display some string with russian charset i do it successfully with:
pDC->ExtTextOut();
But in menus and buttons - i have "pseudographics". I don't know how to exlain Smile | :)

. I think i need something like ceappwzru.dll??? Because i noticed, when i make a new project - i can chose wich language do i want to have my resouces...(english , french...) Ind there is no russian Smile | :)

I have to use ISA bus under my own Windows CE OS.
I found lots of information about CEDDK on the MSDN site.

Does someone have already had to use ISA bus under a eVC program?
Can you give me informations or codes? ;o)

Do you think, the code I had found could help me?

Hi,

I am trying to write a code in an application that would invoke functions within a script from the application in WinCE. I tried searching for examples using COM objects, but there seems to be no such object for WinCE by Microsoft. Could anybody throw some light on this please?

Tool Bars Problem

I've got some problem with it. I try to make 2 toolbars with rebars, and when i show them all - everything is OK, but when i try to hide one of them - another toolbar doesn't repaint it self fully (just buttons that it has), and doesnt get the full avaluable area.
Here how i make them:

And It Looks Like This:

When i hide the first toolbar i have this:
||Button 1(from second toolbar)||...And this area doesnt repaint!!!
Only the Buttons on this panel are still ok...
Please help...

Check the help file of eVC on the Data Access 3.0 or 3.1 topic. The GROUP BY clause is not supported by Pocket Access.

How do you programatically catch the power off button in an iPAQ 2200 Pocket PC using eMbedded Visual C++. Which event(s) should I monitor and which functions can use to check the Power Off button.
Any help is appreciated.

Try the RegisterHotKey function and listen for the VK_SLEEP key.

C# and the registry

I'm writing a Pocket PC 2003 application in C#. I have what should be a simple requirement: I want to persist applicatoin options between sessions; the most logical place seems to be in the registry, but I can't seem to find how to do it.

There's the Microsoft.Win32, but this doesn't seem to exist in the .Net Compact Framework.

There's System.Runtime.InteropServices which allow me to call Win32 APIs, e.g., RegOpenKeyEx. I've used these before in desktop apps.

The Embedded Visual C++ Version 4.0 help says "Although the registry is directly accessible, accessing the registry through the metabase is the preferred method for updating settings. This is accomplished by using the CSP specific to the settings that require an update." But I can't find any guidance on how to call CSP.

Can some one give me a clue on where to start? What is the recommended method? And perhaps some sample code.

This is a nice looking library, and its free. Possibly the Configuration settings namespace is more suited to my needs - saves application configuration in an XML file, presumably in the application directory. This would be much better than the global registry database, which was one of the worse ideas (IMHO) Microsoft ever had.

I was pointed to some code that will allow me to raise some of the settings dialogs through my application. Here is the code:

So im trying to implement this in c# through the pocket pc os. I was attempting to use the Process class to create the ctlpnl.exe process, but it seems its not supported. Is there another way to implement this code easily?

Hello Vikram,

for win CE you should use the following:

include windows.h and use following declaration...
#include <windows.h>
extern "C" void WINAPIV NKDbgPrintfW(LPCWSTR lpszFmt, ...);

use the function like:

NKDbgPrintfW (_T("%s(%i) : Warning : something went wrong here!\n"), _T(__FILE__), __LINE__);

If you are attached to the application (in debug mode) with the development tool, like eVC++ you can see all debug outputs in the output box of the development tool!
