Hi aLL !
I am trying hard but with no success, maybe one of you guys/gals here can help..
I am kind of desperate..
What I want is this:
When people make a shortcut to my web page, the icon that will appear with the shortcut (let's say, on the desktop) will not be the blue 'e' icon, rather my own 'handmade' icon.
What's the way to do this ?
Thank you very much !

It seems to me that the creation of a DOM at the server is a very expensive proposition that is needed only to serve the server controls. If we were to provide a two pass process, we could use <%= %> within server controls and more cheaply provide the same benefits as that of having the ViewState-control integration. A simple Value function could provide data from the "postback" or from the database.
Curious
Thank you

Hi! I just want to inquire regarding CSS. Below is the sample CSS declaration
body
{
scrollbar-face-color: #E5EFE5;
scrollbar-highlight-color: #E5EFE5;
}
I just want to ask if there is any possible solution to read the values to be define in the CSS from a database, table record. Ex. the value #E5EFE5 (is stored in a table)? What are the alternative solution or how it should be coded from asp?
Thank You Very Much

you can embed the style in the html page using
and read the values from the DB.
also you can use inline style:
also you can make your style sheet file an ASP not CSS file so the style file is generated by code.

external CSS is used because there are more than 100 pages. The design is somehow a part of content management for a scroll bar design and background color. Could you please further explain about the previous answer you have given by showing some examples. As well how could I make my style sheet an ASP file?
Thank You So Much

Hi
to add a style sheet to an html page you do this :
<link rel=stylesheet href=Css/Style.css>
the change you'll do is :
<link rel=stylesheet href=Css/Style.ASP?PID=123>
in the Style.ASP page you'll check for request.Querystring("PID") and use this value to lookup data in a database like :
rs.Open "Select Scroll_Color from ColorTable where PageID=" & request.Querystring("PID")
then you write this data to the style sheet page
something like this :
response.write rs(0).Value

Hi!
Thanks for the reply, with the sample you have given, but how does the following:
scrollbar-face-color: #E5EFE5;
scrollbar-highlight-color: #E5EFE5;
as well as the other declaration in CSS such the font and links will be done and appear when the user loads the page how will it take effect?
thanks
additional question:
i've check out the sample you have given
in the asp page i called in the style sheet the asp page and the id it should pass
this is the sample asp page that contains the information for style sheet and color of the scroll
<%
pageid_ = Request.QueryString("pageid")
Set Conn = Server.CreateObject("ADODB.Connection")
Conn.Open Application("sampleDSN_ConnectionString")
colorSQL = "SELECT * FROM tblColor where pageid= '"& pageid_ &"'"
Set rs = Conn.Execute(colorSQL)
if rs.eof then
else
bgcolor_ = rs("bgcolor")
end if
%>
body
{
scrollbar-face-color: <%=bgcolor_%>;
scrollbar-highlight-color: <%=bgcolor_%>;
scrollbar-3dlight-color: <%=bgcolor_%>;
scrollbar-darkshadow-color: <%=bgcolor_%>;
scrollbar-shadow-color: <%=bgcolor_%>;
scrollbar-arrow-color: #CC3333;
scrollbar-track-color: <%=bgcolor_%>;
overflow-x:hidden
}
.content {
font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;
font-size: x-small;
color: black;
}
.contmenu {
font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;
font-size: xx-small;
color: #666633;
}
.contimage {
font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;
font-size: xx-small;
color: black;
}
a:link { color: #666633; text-decoration: none}
a:visited { color: #666633; text-decoration: none}
a:hover { color: #CC3333; text-decoration: none}
a:active { color: #666633; text-decoration: none}
when i check out the page, there is no effect on the scroll bar, it displays the normal scroll bar and the style sheet effect.
please assist on what seems to be the problem in here or any thing needed to be change?
thanks so much!

Hi
as far as i know .. colored scroll bars are supoorted sstarting with IE5.5 .. what version do you have ?

First check if the normal CSS (hard-coded values) works - this is just to check the browser compatability etc.. if it comes OK there and doesnt come here... we may have to check it then
Note: Have you made the # written in the database.?? .. just asked

How can I detect the screen revolution with ASP. I notice if I design a page on 14" monitor, The measurement is different on a bigger monitor. Is this possible so I can change the canvas of my page on the fly

Well if you are talking about "resolution" this could be helpful, I miss what you mean with "revolution"
Directly with ASP you can't check the screen width & height, but with a client script (JScript) you can use the screen object and get the width & height, and better just the avalaible width & height. You can script something like this:
<br />
<script><br />
mywidth = screen.width;<br />
myheight = screen.height;<br />
</script><br />

If the look of your HTML on different monitor size is your problem... try using the 'SIZE' in your HTML with %... which will resize your page with the change in resolution / monitor sizes

Hi All,
I have an ms webcontrols treeview setup as an expanding menu system by using no line, no plus signs and no indent, just auto expands when selected (it works great).
Problem is I now have a fixed width menu to create and I have run into a real tough one, does anyone know how I can force the TreeNode Text to wrap to a second line when there is not enough room. I have been able to clip the text and expand to accept but not to wrap.
I understand that this would normally break the lines within the tree but in this case the visual look would not be lost.
Any help would be appreciated.
Regards
Richard

Hello everybody~
I got an ASP project and now trying to write a function to check "is there one or more checkbox have been checked", the function is something like:
function gfChkCheckBox(obj)
'do something to find out how many checkboxs have been checked.
...
end function
in ASP, when I call this function, like:
the problem is, if I click this botton when the checkbox object "form.chkTest" does not exist, IE always warning me that "Object does not support this attribute or method".I've tried isnull(), isempty(),isobject() or something like that in VBScript, but cannot avoid this error. I think this error was already taken placed when the object was sent as parameter.
Someone know how to judge if this object exists so I can't avoid the error?
Thanks a lot and sorry for my pity English~~

Hello,
Can anyone direct me to a good article on how to display a flash file in my aspx page?
Thanks,
RC

|

If you're using Flash, just export the file to an HTML and copy the HTML it creates into your ASPX page. It should be something similar to this:
<object id="some_name" name="swf_file.swf"
classid="clsid:D27CDB6E-AE6D-11cf-96B8-444553540000"
codebase="http://download.macromedia.com/pub/shockwave/cabs/flash/swflash.cab#version=5,0,0,0"
width="558" height="168">

Hi
I have a ASP page the return a XML from another server (Weather Channel) cuz Flash don't allow get xml files from another site. For this reason I make this script
<br />
<%<br />
Response.ContentType = "text/xml"<br />
Response.Expires = 0<br />
id = Request.Querystring("id")<br />
<br />
varXMLPage = "http://xoap.weather.com/weather/local/"&id&"?cc=*&prod=xoap&&unit=m&par=1004534660&key=cff7e670386fc9dc"<br />
<br />
Set mydoc=Server.CreateObject("Microsoft.XMLDOM") <br />
mydoc.async=false<br />
mydoc.load(varXMLPage) <br />
<br />
Response.write mydoc.xml<br />
%><br />
Works fine in Win2K, but when I need to used in WinNT4, it didn't works. I don't receive anything. I imagine that could be the XMLDOM object, cuz Microsoft.XMLDOM is MSXML4, and the WinNT4 server could have 3 or lower version. So I tried to change the object to Msxml2.DOMDocument, but it still don't work.
Someone know why??
Thanks
