hello
i wish to open a particular words or excel to let the user
see some output
the word/excel is already been create
the document have information in it
how do i set the path to open the particular file
and if posibble how do i put the path name to a combo or list box?
please help

Add a reference to "Microsoft Excel X.0 Object Library" and "Microsoft Word X.0 Object Library" to your application. Afterwards, both objects have functions which will open the documents.

Hi
are you wanting to dump the entire content out to the console? if so, you can use the stream reader class to read in the text file and dump that file using the console.writeline command..here's the code for it...
Dim _strmReader As New StreamReader("c:\test.txt")
Console.WriteLine(_strmReader.ReadToEnd)
_strmReader.Close()
_strmReader = Nothing
Console.ReadLine()

I have three computers running on a D-Link network. The main computer is a domain computer using Active Directory. I am using Windows 2003 on all computers. (actually, I tried Windows Server 2000 also).
I am having trouble on the two computers that are linked to the domain controller. Both of these computers are using IE 6.
One of these computers, Computer A has a VB.Net 2003 webservice on it that just returns a message. Actually, before returning the message it does an eventlog write just to test that the service is being entered.
Computer B has an Outlook form that is trying to connect to the webservice on Computer A. Unfortunately, I MUST use VBScript to do this. I am trying to use the XMLHttpRequest object to connect.
I keep getting a returned HttpRequest Status of 500 (Resource Not Found) when trying to connect.
I tried to connect via a VB.Net program and also through IE 6 and they both work just fine.
I think the problem is some sort of permissions problem. However, I checked the ASPNET user and the permissions of the solutions folder in IIS and also Windows Explorer and they seem to be fine.
I also have Browsing Off and have a Default Page set.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

You can turn the StatusBar, MenuBar, Toolbar, ..., on by setting those properties to True.
You can also supply your own textbox control and, in it's TextChanged event, put the code to Navigate or Navigate2 to text found in the textbox's Text property.

 hi everybody....can any one help me with my vb .net setup....
want to include dot net framework that is dotnetfx.exe ,,, plus for database access want to install mdac through setup and want to give crystal report support through my setup....i tried with the boothstrapper setup from net... could install framework but facing problem with mdac and crystall reports. tried to include the merge module of mdac but still not working... is there any setting for that let me know...
For crystall reports managed.msm includes all the support file but still its giving error like invalid keycodev2.dll
hope to hear from any body soon .....

I've seen this mentioned before, and I know how to create the app.config file in my project, and I know theoretically how to read from it, but it never works for me. So, I was wondering if someone could give me a simple example of, say, the following:
Create an application (using Visual Basic.Net Home Edition) that will remember the form's Opacity, Backcolor, size and position using a configuration file (app.config).
I figure if I see the code for that, I'll be able to figure out how to use the app.config file to remember other stuff too. I know it can't be that hard, because lots of people seem to use it all of the time.

As you probably know, the app.config file is read by the framework and accessed through the ConfigurationSettings.AppSettings[^] collection. However this is a one-way communication, Reading only. The app.config AFAIK is only designed for external settings to be created for an application, and not for the application to write to.

Settings are very easy to save in .NET, because you can serialize objects. This makes it almost trivial to create a class to represent your settings, and then use serialization to save and load it to/from disk.
See Serialization, Basic Serialization in the .NET SDK docs.
There are other ways, but that is my favourite.
