Hello all!
I'm just starting out with the PPC and was stepping through a super simple sample (ie. create a project and compile it - deploy to emulator and run). Nothing at all exciting or hard.
I'm able to get the simple wizard generated project to compile and run on the emulator. What I'm having a problem with is that when I try to go to the form (the project is a Windows Application), it displays the following error message:
"An error occurred while loading the document. Fix the error, ...
File or assembly name EnvDTE, or one of its dependencies, was not found."
I can't find a reference to it anywhere and when I actually try to add the DLL as a reference (envdte.dll), it doesn't help. Neither can I add it as "envdte" or "Microsoft Development Environment" (or whatever it was called in a article I found to try and solve the problem).
So, what do I need to do so that I can actually add things to the form?
Any help will be appreciated!

Please state what development environment you are using: VS.Net, eVC3, eVB, eVC4?

Hi,
How can I remove the default menu on the command bar to the right hand side which is for the keyboard etc. I've tried such things as
CMenu* KBmen = m_wndCommandBar.GetMenuBar(m_wndCommandBar.GetNumButtons()-1);
KBmen->DestroyMenu(); // Detach();
m_wndCommandBar.ResetCommandBar();
But I'm very new to CE (palm top) development am having a few problems.

Try this to remove
HWND hTaskBarWnd = ::FindWindow(_T("HHTaskBar"), NULL);
if (hTaskBarWnd) {
::EnableWindow(hTaskBarWnd, FALSE);
::ShowWindow(hTaskBarWnd, SW_HIDE);
}
and this to show it again

I tried your code but it had no effect, I tried to add it before and after I made my menu, is their a proper place to put such code, like do I have to wait until the program is fully up and running or is it ok to put into the likes of CMainFrame::CMainFrame() or int CMainFrame::OnCreate(LPCREATESTRUCT lpCreateStruct)
I cam across
::SHFullScreen(m_hWnd, SHFS_HIDETASKBAR);
which I have also tried, but get the following error
error LNK2019: unresolved external symbol _SHFullScreen referenced in function "protected: __thiscall CMainFrame::CMainFrame(void)" (??0CMainFrame@@IAE@XZ)
How come I cant access m_hWnd ?

The error message is probably because you have missed linking to Aygshell.lib

Thanks for the reply, I've since added the Aygshell.h and aygshell.lib to the project, but am still getting the same error

According to the Help you should include
windows.h
sipapi.h
shlobj.h
prsht.h
even though it is defined in Aygshell.h
However this would not cause the linker to fail. Have you tried cleaning the entire project and rebuilding?

I tried what you suggested and a few other things but still no luck, which I think seems to be strange.
Would it have anything to do with the fact that the project was started by selecting 'WCE Pocket PC Application' as when I tested the code on a new project I started 'WCE Pocket PC Application (exe)' it worked, worked as in compiled and ran on the emulator, not tested on the device, but in the current project I cant even get it to compile.

I have an application written in eVC 3.0. Now I port it to eVC 4.0 but
when I build it, I got the error error message below:

What platform are you targeting? Make sure it is POCKETPC 2003, not STANDARDSDK.

I create a tab control with CreateWindowEx api and it work with default aspect but not with vs.net standard control...

I wanted to know, is there any way to access pocket access data base using other technologies like Windows OS native APIs for database open, close, search (CEDBSEEK). if i use this feautres what are all the limitations/constrains compare to ADOCE ?
can i use OLEDB for accessing pocket access data base ?
If anyone having idea about this tehcnology , please provide more information or resources in this regard.
Any kind of idea or suggestions will be most welcome.

I think that this is reasonable to expect in the future. After all, Microsoft is providing ADO.Net for that purpose.

You can access a Pocket Access database using straight API methods. I have researched this subject and I'm planning to write an article on this soon.

Most likely, you will loose the query processor.

No. ADOCE uses its own internal data provider: it is not an OLE DB provider.

Does the version of the CE C++ complier that comes with VS.NET use the MFC7.0 classes? Is STL supported?

Dear all,
I am trying to port my application written in eVC 3.0 for Pocket PC 2002 to eVC 4.0 for Window Mobile 2003 but the eVC 4.0 does not support the ADOCE.
Is there any way to overtake this problem?

Is there a way, using Visual Studio, to write a program that can be compiled for both the host and the PPC? It's not like using VC++ where you can set appropriate flags, or is it?

This is next to impossible. Platforms are so different that you have to think differently when developing for either.
