I'm trying to get automation for Outlook working. Well, all the examples I read here on codeproject and find elsewhere 'round the internet involve either a #import of msoutl.olb and mso.dll or having class wizard handle them automatically. Thing is, I can't find ANY of these files anywhere. I've looked on my computer, my dad's, my brother's... none of them have said files either. I thought they were supposed to be installed with Outlook Express! I've found msoutl.olb floating around the net in a zip file, but mso.dll I haven't. So, if anybody could tell me where to find these files, I would be most appreciative.

Outlook and Outlook Express are totally different beasts.

Sadly, Outlook Express doesn't support an object automation model. I've always thought this was a shame but I guss Microsoft had their reasons. (Probably down to all the security issues that the original Outlook model caused)

I'd like to change the font for my CEditView in my MFC Doc/view application. I am using VC++ 6.
Anybody know how?
Thanks, David.

Use SetFont() . Just be sure that the font you are using has the same life span as the view.

"MFC AppWizard(exe)" and "Win32 Application",
"MFC AppWizard(dll)" and "Win32 Dynamic-link Library",
"Database Project" and "New Database Wizard" and "Extended Stored Proc Wizard"
when i create a new project?
thanks for your help!

I don't have VC6 open in front of me, but if memory serves, the only difference is that the MFC AppWizard takes you through a bunch of extra hooey (that is, steps in the wizard) and then generates a large majority of the code for you, whereas a strait win32 application, well, doesn't: it just gives you an empty project.

hi,
how can i costumize the tab order in the Dialog window editor?

I would like to figure out how to make a feature like the CTRL+A feature that is in Notepad. You can also select the menu option Edit and then select Select All. I currently have a dialog box with and edit box (multiline) in the middle of it. I type stuff in there and would like to press Ctrl+A to automatically highligh all of the text. Does anyone know how to do this?
Thank you

Thanks for the info. I am still having problems though. Can you give me a set of steps on how to do this. For example:
Create new MFC AppWizard(exe)
Make Project name Test
next,dialog based,finish
Drag a Edit Box over to the dialog
Drag a button over to the dialog next to edit box
Set properties ID to IDC_EDIT_MESSAGE and make multiline
close properties
go into the MFC class wizzard
click on the Members Variables tab
select IDC_EDIT_MESSAGE
click on the Add Variable button
make member variable name m_message
change category to control
select ok and get out of the class wizard
double click on the button created and then select ok for the function to be created
now in the to do area of the new function type what?
this is where I would like for the button to select all of the text
sorry, but I have been a way from programming for a while and I do not have any of my books near me that demonstrate this type of stuff
thanks

Okay, I see now why it did not appear to work before. I did as you suggested and still did not see the text get selected. But after putting in the line m_message.SetSel(0,-1); I typed m_message.copy(); The text was selected but it did not show the text as selected until I did a copy. The only problem with this is that this copies the text in memory. It must be that after selecting the text I have to change the background color of the text as well. In this example we went through I used an edit text box and defined it as control, how could I have selected text if I would have defined it as a CString?
Thank you for the info

For the attention of the forum administrator.
I have been in the programming industry for 15+ years
and I am surprised and shocked by the number of offensive
and arrogant updates that pour ridicule on certain members of this forum that ask 'inappropriate' questions aimed at resolving their problem.
There seems to be a few contributors that deem themselves way above the learning curve who most likely forget that they once started at the bottom.
One of the most important aspects of programming is shared knowledge and
without that philosophy none of us would progress at all.
To slight and ridicule others who ask questions deemed trivial, is a disgrace.
You should be ashamed of yourself and you know who you are.
My whole expertise is built on the learning curve, development and experience of others,
that's how the whole of information technology was developed.
Sharing ideas and the solution to problems is at the heart of IT and to allow a few
contributors to use your forum as a kind of arrogant chatroom where naive questions
are frowned upon, surely cannot be right.
James.

I've been nuked a few times, do to errors in my answers. The majority of nukes seem to be directed at students who are asking for someone else to give them the answer, insted of presenting an attempted solusion.

While I can sympathise with your standpoint, I don't know what you referred to and neither the threads and questions.
That said, I know from experience that many questions are repeated - displaying the questioner have not even done the basic googling or searching of even CP itself.
If the questioner tells up front "I've been trying to find this answer using means x, y and z" it's one thing, but asking a beginners question with an almost obvious proof s/he hasn't even done a google search IMO deserves LARTing.
Again, as I don't know what you referred to there might have been something more serious provoking your post, but in my experience post of this kind are provoked by a bystander watching, just for a short while, people who are too lazy to even bother trying to find their own answers before bugging the general public and get flamed for it.

You should rethink your design and use a modal dialog instead. That way, you conform to the GUI-guidelines, and will not surprise the users. You might want to search for interface guidelines on MSDN, the Apple developer site http://developer.apple.com/documentation/UserExperience/Conceptual/OSXHIGuidelines/index.html[^](!), for example, also have lots of usability and design information.
If you insist on doing it this way, you might want to call EnableWindow with a FALSE parameter for all the windows that should be disabled.
