There are several ways to do this, here is one.
Private Sub Text1_Change()
'Check position of character
If len(Text1) = 3 then
If right(Text1,1) = "A" Or IsNumeric(Text1) = True Then
MsgBox "There's an A or an numeric in Text1 ", 64, "Error Message"
Exit Sub
End If
End If
End Sub

Hi,
Using another software package---Lotus Domino in this case---is it possible to access the functions or procedures of a component or DLL file that was developed with Visual Basic 6.0 (an ActiveX DLL)?
At this time Lotus Domino makes its own objects accessible via COM, but is not able to access third-party COM objects (including, presumably, VB DLLs). However, LotusScript is similar to VB script and (according to the documentation) it does support the DECLARE and INCLUDE syntax to access functions in C-generated DLL files... but the docs make no mention of VB-generated DLL files.
Any ideas or pointers to other sources?
Thanks!

I am developing a custom MMC extension for managing the configuration of an application. I would be pleased if somebody can explain me how to add subnodes dinamically to a node (as if I add a new database in the SQL Server enterprise Manager). Can I do this with the snap-in wizard for VB, or I have to write the snap-in with VC++?

You have to add a designer to your project and from there you can add listviews, oxcviews and so on.
Check out the VB MMC files and sample from Platform SDK. Its pretty cool.

I´m having some problem about storing a bitmap file into an Access 2000 field.
I have a form in visual basic that contains a picture box, from this picture box I generate a bitmap file. What I need now is to store this file into the Access database in a way that the Crystal Reports 8 could read later. I´ve been told to store the path of the bitmap file only, but if I do that, how to make Crystal Report show the picture instead of the path?
Another solution I heard is to use the Access 2000 "OLE data type", but I don´t know how. In this case I would need a piece of code as example.
If someone could help me, any of the solutions above would work for me. Thanks...

I want to be able to call a function in a DLL at run-time, without first putting a DECLARE in my VB program at design-time. Any sneaky ideas? Here's a little head-start that maybe someone out there can help me with. I can call the LoadLibrary API function to get a handle to the DLL I want. Then, with this handle and the name of the function I want, I can call the GetProcAddress API to get the address of the function. In C++, I could simply jump to this address, but how can I call this function by its address in Visual Basic? Anyone know?
THANKS!

Hi,
I really do not think that this can be done simply with a code snipit. You will have to use a ActiveX control, this could get a little expensive.
Check out this site, it may have a listing of such controls:

Hardware is another consideration
Good luck,

Hi there!
I keep getting following ASSERT:
Assertion Failed: file C:\MSO9\tcutil.cpp line 6227: could not fix LanguageResources registry entries
This happens with any example provided by the package.
Any Ideas for this?
Tnx in advance,

Hi!

That locks the computer if you dont know the password.
Thanks

IK,
Well to tell you the truth I've been wanting to write one of theese for myself for quite some time. Heres what you do:
- Prevent escape keystrokes (CTRL ALT DEL, ALT F4 ect)
- Size the window to full screen and prevent the user from using the start menu
-have the program start at system startup to prevent the computer from being restarted in order to access the system
It's that simple!
As for hiding the start menu/taskbar, thats as far as I got, I dont know how to do that.
Maby I could send you someting by e-mail if anyone else hasen't already done this in VB.
