You can use Windows' Task Scheduler service to do this (see How To Use the AT Command to Schedule Tasks[^]).

I'd say creating a service is a good idea if you want to run something unattended and without desktop interaction. However keep in mind that if you create a service on your own you'll also be responsible for the scheduler logic. You'll have to decide which solution is most suitable for your requirements.

Hey,
I am using a PDF printer.
I am setting the "HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Windows" Device key to my PDF printer to set it as the default printer so that it is automatically selected when a application prints.
But some applications succesfully recognise the newly set key as the new default printer and others do not, and only see the previous default printer.
Is there another value that i need to check or set for all applications to use the newly set default printer?
Thanks for your help
Chris

I'm using code I found on Internet (www.TheScarms.com) to populate/update Excel data from VB.net project. When debugging I'm getting the following error:
An unhandled exception of type 'System.Runtime.InteropServices.COMException' occurred in PRCoverSheet.exe
Additional information: Invalid index.
The code of the part that gives the error is:
'Open the XLS file and activate the worksheet to populate:
Dim strWorkSheetName As String = "MyData"
Dim sbExcelData As System.Text.StringBuilder
Dim aWorkbook As Excel.Workbook
Dim aWorkSheet As Excel.WorksheetClass
aWorkbook = myExcel.Workbooks.Open(strExcelFile)
aWorkSheet = CType(aWorkbook.Sheets(strWorkSheetName), Excel.Worksheet)
' CType(myExcel, Excel._Application).Quit()
aWorkSheet.Activate()
The debugger highlights the following statement:
aWorkSheet = CType(aWorkbook.Sheets(strWorkSheetName), Excel.Worksheet)
What could it possibly be and how can i fix it?
Thank you all in advance

Is it possible to change printer settings through a VB .NET program? Ex Number of copies, duplex, custom paper type, etc
If you have some suggestions or examples that would be great, if not I will have to make do with an answer if it is possible or not.
Thanks

Hello everybody!
I have a trouble with Outlook. The following VB code
set objOLApp = CreateObject("Outlook.Application")
objOLApp.Session.AddStore("c:\temp\test.pst")
perfectly adds new store but how can I get the root folder corresponding to this newly added store? If I were sure that this file is not yet added then I could collect EntryIDs before and after operation and find the difference. But I'm not sure because of statement of work. Is there a way to establis correspondence between root folder and store file name? As far as I know Outlook GUI allows this.
Thanks in advance.

Can I consume a Webservice coded using ASP.NET & C# in a VisualBasic 6.0
application?
I read it can be done using Soap toolkit..but I a dont want to use it as it will be required to be installed on all the machines using that application.
How to do it without using toolKit.
Thanx

Save yourself the aggravation of re-writing the SOAP toolkit yourself and just use it.

Is it possible to change the color of only certin lines in a text box? I am trying to write a cheap game for my senior project and I thought it would be cool to be able to change color of the text if I was getting hit by something to red, and have me hitting the enemy in white. If anyone has any helpful thoughts please email them to me or post them.
Thanks so much
Tommy

You know 'txtSample.ForeColor = vbColorRed' can change your text's color, but all lines. It's impossible to change colors of only certain lines in textbox. I have 2 ways to solve this problem (I often do):
1)I think textbox is not for displaying, it's for inputing. So you should use 2 labels: 1 for you and 1 for the enemy. When you are getting hit , your label red, enemy's label white , contrary...
2)You can use a RichTextBox:
rtbSample.SelText.ForeColor = vbColorRed
but it's not my favourite because the RichTextBox control is very complex .
I post this reply on a computer without Visual Basic installed, so that I can't test the code. If you don't like my answer or don't understand , reply me, I will find another way (I pay attention to this problem too!)

Hi,
I have file as shown in the link:
http://mickey.ccs.uky.edu/doubt/a.doc
I need to parse the file and get the various text information present in it. Also, I need to differentiate whether it came from process or data(see file.)
Any help to achieve this would be highly appreciated.
Are there any ways to access the content of an OLE object ?
Looking forward for replies.
Thanks

Does anyone know how to format a date to October 02, 2004 when the incoming data is 10/02/2004? (Using Basic Syntax not Crystal Syntax)
The following code works in vb.net but I can't figure out what the correct syntax would be in the formula editor.
Dim dteSDate As Date = csvDataRow.Item("SDATE")
Dim strFormatSDate As String = Format(dteSDate, "MMMM dd, yyyy")")
All help is greatly appreciated!

I'm wanting to covert from using access to mysql on a program that I'm writing for myself, but I can't seem to set up the connection to the database in Visual Basic. I know it's an online database ,but I'd like to have a way to use the same information for the web interface as well as the desktop interface. Although on the desktop side, I don't want to use ASP, PHP, etc. If anyone has figured out how to do this, I would appreciate any direction on how to go about doing this,
