Hi all !
I have an app that read the content of a folder, when we specify one...
the thing is this :
I add a contextual menu in the «Windows contextual menu for folder» (when a folder is right-click...) that say "open with (my app...)"...
So when i right-click a folder, and select that menu, my prog. open, with the folder as "content to read"...
My question is this :
With windows 2K, sp4, everythings is fine, and working well...
BUT
With windows XP sp2 (maybe sp1 too, didn't test it...), i have an error message when i try the same operation... It says : access refused (sorry, the real error msg is in french, so it may not be that exact spelling in english...), with the name of the folder i was trying to open...
I'm admin on that computer, so it is not access rights, or something else...
Maybe XP sp2 is too much secured ???
If you need more details, ask for it...
I may not have been as much clear as i would like to...

Yeah, that's what i think first, but i'll need to install my app on a lot of computer, and i'll be oblige to configure all of them ?
I'd like to use an installer...
And maybe i'm wrong, but by giving full trust to my app by the framework configuration didn't solve my problem, so is it really security related ?
I'll read all about SP2, but i'm suspecting it will be a lot of wasted time...

It is not a security related problem...
See, windows 2k can use som relative link (ex. %programfiles%\(folder)...)
In HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Folder\shell\
But XP just ignore it, so i have to use an absolute path
(c:\program files\...)

I'm writing an ASP.net web page to create new users, and its all going very well. I can create users, set almost all of the AD fields and configure a password. The one thing that is bugging me is the profile path field (profilePath in AD). Everytime it attempts to commitchanges, it bombs out. I've tried changing the format I send it in from \\servername\sharename\username to \\\\servername\\sharename\\username (this is how the output of csvde displays this AD field). Its not a permissions thing as I've set the path where the share and NTFS permissions are set to full control for everyone. I'm now configuring 20 or so AD fields, but this one is going to drive me mad!!!!
This is the section of code:-

I was wondering if anyone has had experience in displaying DXF or DWG files (file type produced by AutoCad - a design application) within vb.net. An example of code would be great

Ok I have done something similar for my company. You can go 2 ways.
First way: Using the OCX control called DWGTHUMBNAIL.OCX. This one can only see DWG and in a small preview window. It should be part of your AutoCAD. If not you can look on the internet. I don't remember from the top of my head for the address though. Any ways. The code for first way:

You should change the Picture property of the image manually.

I suppose that you use VB6 as the interface and ms access as the database. In you access file create the table that you want to store an image path. In that table suppost that you have many field with difference information in clude the field of the photo too. In the field of your photo, don't use OLE object as the data type. Use Text as the database instead of OLE Object. Then on your form when you want to select the picture you will use common dialog to open the picture that you want and return the string of the picture path. Use LoadPicture function in vb6 to load the picture base on the path to that picture. So when you add the record you will add the string of path to the image in your record.
Working with this way is save your database a lot of space instead of using an OLE Object. When you move back or next you just load the picture by using the path that store in the database. I used to do this before and its working very well

I have a VB6 project which uses OleCreatePictreIndirect to create a bitmap.
When this is converted to VB.NET (a change forced on me but IT services) it no longer seem to work. The code compiles but throws a;
SystemNullReferenceException: Object not set to instance of an object.
Code used is below and was originally sourced from the standard microsoft example.

I have read some posts stating that the OleCreatePictureIndirect has changed in .NET but as I have no .NET experience and no reference material, the detail given in the solutions is lost on me.
Could someone please explain in relatively plain english the situation and the solution???

Hello world 
I've written an app that employs disconnected data via datasets. I had a situation lately where a user modified over 10 records (out of a total of 25 contained within my dataset). When the user tried to update the datasource with their changes some of those records violated database rules. The user then had to manually scroll thru the dataset SEQUENTIALLY to see which records caused the update to fail. How do I modify the app so that in such a situation it automatically displays the first record that causes the update to fail?
If it is any help, the app was built using the Data Form Wizard in VB.NET.

I have a suggestion that u might wanna look at,
what you can do is to highlight those records that caused the problems and let user rectify.
BTW : I am curious, how can u let user update fields that can cause DB error? wanna leave an example here?

You're thinking along the same lines as me. However, the question is, how does one determine which records are the rogues? For example, if we are sending 5 records back to the datasource but one has caused a concurrency violation, how do we know which one has caused the violation? 
As for your question I think it's just a case of highlighting the field (on the data-entry form) that caused the error, allowing the user to correct the data, then allowing them to save the data again (via the appropriate command button on your form).
