Setting to use CONTAINS in SQL query.

I am getting this message when execute query using system function CONTAINS.

I am not installed FULL TEXT SEARCH when installed MSSQL.

Cannot use a CONTAINS or FREETEXT predicate on table or indexed view 'table name' because it is not full-text indexed.

I am using table [Dispatch send message] and column name [Meassage].
Create a SQL query using function "contains" not working fine, generate message:
Cannot use a CONTAINS or FREETEXT predicate on table or indexed view 'table name' because it is not full-text indexed.
so what setting i have made to run this query.

Than i think its better to use LIKE.
no performance issue.

As per my experience, full text search is faster, but the reason to use/not use full text search depends on many factors.
