How to validate a form using different validation methods for each textbox, and display error next to the textbox either in javascript or PHP?

Form validation with alert error pop -ups are old fashioned, calling different strict validation functions and throwing error in appropriate place is the important.

is InnerHTML / onblur=validate() the only option to solve in Javascript , pls suggest ways in PHP too.

Various approach can be applied.
onblur or onkeydown or onkeypress or onsubmit. By the way, have you learned PHP? PHP can validate only if you send the data to php. Please learn first....
