Writing a onscreen Keyboard program?

hey guys i want to write a program that works as an onscreen keyboard. What do i need to do in order to make the keyboard type wherever i want it to instead of a text box in the program itself. For example, how do i make the keyboard type in a url in Firefox? thanks for the help in advance.
