Hi friends,

I'm confused - does ASP.NET work with HTML5, or just the older versions- will this new HTML5 make some of ASP.NET obsolete...not sure I understand how it all works together?

(I'm a newbie, just learning C# right now)

Thanks for the help...

HTML5 has nothing to do with whether or not your site uses ASP.Net. It has everything to do with whether or not your users' browsers will support it (HTML5, that is).

HTML is an evolving standard, the most widely used standard currently HTML 4.0 which dates back to 1999. Like any other technology, people have realized the shortcomings of HTML 4.0 and HTML 5.0 is the outcome. Now all the vendors have to update the clients (web browsers) to support this new standard; ASP.Net is one server side technology which has to be updated to support the HTML 5 standard which is what Visual Studio 2010 SP1 does. So if you are using an old version of Visual Studio, it will not support HTML 5
