1.'''Write a function digits(lst) that returns a list having length equal to the list lst, and such that, for each index i, if the value in index i of lst is a digit (either as an int, or as a string containing the english name of the digit in lower case, in upper case or in a mix of the two), then the new list will contain in the same index i the integer representing that digit. (The list lst can only contain numerical types, and strings.) If the value in index i of lst is not a digit, then the new list will contain in index i the value None.
2.'''A string is alternating if it does not contain any pair of consecutive vowels, nor any pair of consecutive consonants.
Out of the 26 alphabetical letters in the english language, we consider a/A, e/E, i/I, o/O and u/U to be vowels, and we consider the remaining 21 letters to be consonants (in particular, we consider 'y' to be a consonant).

Write a function alternate(s) that, given an alphabetical string s, returns True if the string is alternating and False otherwise.

3.'''Write a function query(q, L) that takes a non-empty string q, and a list of strings L, and returns the list of indices of the strings in L that contain q as a substring.

What I have tried:

I don't know how to go about the questions...

How do I you solve this in Python

With work !
How rude, Your main effort is pasting your assignment, you show no work, you have no question, you just want us to do your HomeWork.

We do not do your HomeWork.
HomeWork is not set to test your skills at begging other people to do your work, it is set to make you think and to help your teacher to check your understanding of the courses you have taken and also the problems you have at applying them.
Any failure of you will help your teacher spot your weaknesses and set remedial actions.
Any failure of you will help you to learn what works and what don't, it is called 'trial and error' learning.
So, give it a try, reread your lessons and start working. If you are stuck on a specific problem, show your code and explain this exact problem, we might help.

As programmer, your job is to create algorithms that solve specific problems and you can't rely on someone else to eternally do it for you, so there is a time where you will have to learn how to. And the sooner, the better.
When you just ask for the solution, it is like trying to learn to drive a car by having someone else training.
Creating an algorithm is basically finding the maths and make necessary adaptation to fit your actual problem.

The idea of "development" is as the word suggests: "The systematic use of scientific and technical knowledge to meet specific objectives or requirements." BusinessDictionary.com[^]
That's not the same thing as "have a quick google and give up if I can't find exactly the right code".
