and also i want to know whether i should use the %'s for the containers or for the margins..

Solution 1

The easiest way is to use %'s rather than fixed numbers.
Also it is not considered polite to adjust the users resolution, so do not go down that route.

Otherwise you will have to write several pages for the different sizes, then according to the users screen, display that page.
