matching a webcam image to database image

Hello,

I am a student.

I want to create an application where a person can validate through his or her image(photograph) present in the database.

Can any body give the link, reference, code or idea regarding this.

Well, just in case: it may give an idea of the current level of achievements in the field: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Facial_recognition_system[^], see the section 'Weakness', Considering Iris Recognition marginally relevant to the Answer, one could feel more enthusiastic about this method because it's much easier, hence more successful: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Iris_recognition#Deployed_applications[^]. Still those results are achieved by serious professionals.
