VS 2008 installation problem on Win 7 - help!

Hi! I am facing problem while installing Visual Studio 2008 in a Win 7 64-bit OS netbook with atom processor. The installation fails everytime after installing the doc viewer and web authoring component with the following error description.

  Microsoft Visual Studio Team System 2008 Team Suite - ENU has encountered a problem during setup.  Setup did not complete correctly.

Solution 1

Do you have SQL server installed on that machine? it's a stab in the dark, but I think if SQL is already installed, the installation fails when it tries to install SQL express over the top - you will need to install sql express manually then re-install VS

No. SQL server is not installed in the machine. I am trying to install VS 2008 on a fresh machine.
