BlockUI blocks all my ajax requests!

I don't get it.
I am trying hard to use blockUI http://jquery.malsup.com/block/[^]
to manage multiple ajax requests on my page.

However when I put in this line $(document).ajaxStart($.blockUI).ajaxStop($.unblockUI);
as recommended all my ajax objects don't even load.

Anybody experiencing this?
