CAD design using c++

I want to import a STEP file and extract all the information from it i.e about the geometry,surfaces etc. I have searched that it can be done using C++. I have learned it recently so i am not getting how to start. Is there any tutorial or some sample programm through which i can learn them. I must be able to make modifications in the part using C++.

Thanks in advance for any help!!!!

you may use ctan, cgal or another cad lib to easy your job, them are implementen in C++
