Hello friends! I am with the idea of developing a website using JSP. I would like to have some suggestions on my project idea.
I have an idea of designing a website for my college on which the college members can register. It will be limited only to the college students & staff.( For that purpose I can have authentic access).
Users can do the following things:
1) Sharing college notes or uploading files(like question papers, notes or any kind of file).
2) Uploading pics.
3) Users can chat(which can be a simple chat or a video chat). Since it is a college site i think a simple chat will be more appropriate.
4) Students or Teachers can put up important notes or college events.
5) The other common things like updating status, adding comments will be there.
6) Updating details regarding the placements in college, keeping record of companies and placed students, updating the college events.
I just want to try something that i haven't done before. The intention is that instead of creating a group or community on other social networking sites this thing will be much better. It might look some mix up of differnt things.I would appreciate some more ideas or suggestions or corrections.
Thanks.

JSP, Javascript or both? You tags and title contradict.

In your description I cannot see a single idea which could make this thing "much better". First of all I would strongly advice to think is this activity worth the effort. OK, you might receive some ideas, but what would be your own creative contribution to this work? So far, I don't see anything at all.

Please think about it. By having the idea of creating a social site you simply follow the fashion. In other words, follow the crowd. Don't you think the time when this idea had value is gone? Too late.
