Website mapping options

Hello,

I'm looking into different mapping soltions which could be created for a website.

Basically I need to create / purchase a mapping solution similar to google maps.

I'm writing a website for a client and they would rather own all code / elements.

I know there are open source projects like http://openlayers.org/[^] but has anyone used any thing specific or another company ( not bing or google ) and how did that fair.

At this stage I'm after comments not code.
