Formatting Sendmail.asp email template in html not working

Folks,

Have used sendmail.asp for many years and have been able to do some minor formatting of the email template. Mostly table cell colors. I have tried to embed a CSS in the template.html page and when the contact form is processed and the email is sent to the receipient the formatting isn't even close. I have also attempted to link the CSS from our website location and still no luck in holding the formatting. I would love to add our logo, color text options, etc.

Is there something that I am doing wrong? The text holds the correct font but color defaults to black. Also, table cells hold the background color but other than that I can visually format the template to look the way I wish.

Any ideas would be appreicated!
