Search for free Web hosting:

Look not for the site offering its own hosting but for the lists of hosting companies. For example, use this one:

Look through the list and find one which comes with free e-mail servers, suck as SMTP+POP3 or IMAP with required number of mail boxes. Many of such free Web hosting offers include decent mail features. Usually the also provide Web mail service bound to your e-mail. You will have both Web hosting space and e-mail.
I'm pretty much sure you would be able to find a just e-mail servers, I just never needed them without Web hosting.
