I have searched on google for topics relating to custom controls, but found no real useful articles. Can anyone maybe suggest a link to have look at, which will explain a step by step approach to creating your own custom control?

I am not currently working in asp.net. I want to know when starting a custom control project, what project type do you choose? should it be a class library? I want to be able to reference the control in other projects of mine.
