Connect barcode scanner

I need to connect to a barcode scanner using vb 6.0 so that I can scan a barcode from the barcode scanner and grab an ID and save it in sql server 2005. Can someone please help me with an example or tutorial or any other advice on how to start on this?

Solution 1

The first thing you need to check is what the interface to the scanner is, and how it presents its data. Most scanners appear to the program as simple input devices and return data as text. Check the manufacturer's documentation for your scanner to be sure how to use it.
