There is no clear answer. It is depend on what u want to do with java

like if u r on android that android API is main.
If u r on web application that JSP can be important
if u r developing desktop application u can say swing is important or database.
if u r doing client side work than Applet is important.

I want to say that important depend on ur work and area.

In all the way core JAVA concept and practice will help. The more it is power full quicker and better u can learn and work.
