Enable/Disable ValidationControl at run time in ASP.NET

On click of checkbox I have to change the value of ValidationControl applied on the dropDown without Postback of page.

I was using update Panel but it is throwing me the error 'cannot unregister updatepanel as it is not registerd with Script Manager'...........

Please answer me for this.

You need to have a ScriptManager on the page to be able to use the UpdatePanel.
