Making amounts on gridview negative and positive based on table

Hi, i am a beginner programmer and need help for a project i must do. i have two tables in the database, that are linked to each other. One has an amount column and the other one has a IsDebit column with 1 or 0 values. How can i show that the number is debit or credit in my gridview and in my sum query it should be negative or positive. Any help would be much appreciated.
