clearing page Data after updating by masterpage

i wrote some links in place hlder in masterpage. i designed some web pages and then made navigate urls in masterpage .when i wanted to update pages like login.aspx by clicking on the content tasks-default to masterpage content-creat custom content(a small arrow on top of the pace holder by clickining for 2 times),all the web tools and datas cleared and now page is like masterpage empty of tools and datas
