So I want to go by my first and last name. How do I change my display name?

I've never tried that but if you click on the "My Settings" item in the menu that pops up in top right when you hover over your name then the first page that comes seems to contain this setting but I don't know whether we have the permission to actually change it.

As pasztorpisti says, the box on the 'My Settings' page does the trick.
Note, however, that changing your display name does NOT change the name on messages you previously posted.

Some devious members have been known to change their name, make a post and change the name back. However, the sender link in the message with the temporary name points to the (only) member profile. So they can't really hide.
