Can Winodws 8 App Talk to Java Applets?

Hi All,

Here I got such a requirement, where I need to talk to Java Applets from my Windows 8 App in order to Upload/Download Files. Is communication possible from Windows 8 App to Java Applet.? If you people have any prior knowledge on this.. Please help out.

I have searched a lot. I couldn't find relevant information about this. I got one link, where Asp.Net talks to Java Applet. I followed the same in my windows 8 app, but APPLET control is not available.
