regex to validate image file

hi i am using following regex to validate file extenssion
ValidationExpression="^.*\.(txt)$"
its works fine, but i have to upload any doc file so that i modify above expression
by
ValidationExpression="^.*\.(txt|doc|pdf|xls)$"

but gives an error

please suggest me proper expression so that i can validate doc, docx, pdf, xls, etc file format
