asp.net login popup box

Hi,
I am developing a login popup box in asp.net. I came to know this can be achieved by ajax control toolkit. as per instruction in some examples, I am trying to add popup control extender but its disabled in left toolbox. also many of them are in disabled mode. only update panel, scriptmanager, updateprogress are visible.

could anyone please tell me what i am missing. how to add them?
