Silverlight 4 has not been released yet - it's still in beta. So your clients will not be able to use it until .NET 4 is released which won't be until after March.

You realise it will only work for users who have Excel installed ? I would expect that you should be able to upgrade to Silverlight 4 with no issues, however, I'd test it thoroughly on a test machine before checking the code in and committing to it.

There is a note available on the Silverlight 4 site[^].

"This is a developer beta release only! This release of Silverlight 4 Beta is a developer release. What this means is that there is no “go-live” licensing available and the end-user runtime of Silverlight 4 is not available. The tools below are intended for software developers only."

So you wont be able to release your product to the client.
