use of web services for connecting two databaes

i hav two application,one in jsp and one swing,both hav database in mysql,i want to connect or link that two databases by using web services concepts....what i hav to do?

I dont have a idea about MySQL , but in MSSQL we have a concept of 'linked servers' which suffices the requirement mentioned above
