report viewer sum expression

I have a report viewer in visual studio 2012, and a report1.rdlc. I tried creating a row below the amount row to get the total using =Sum(fields!amount.value) but when I view the report I get a error, what is the proper way to display the sum total of amount

It might be helpful to find out what the error is, then fix the report so that whatever the error is goes away. We cannot see your report or know what error it is that you are getting.
