how to use the JMF to detect a laser point ?

Hi, I've heard a lot about "code project" but this is the first time is post an actual post it and am really really happy to be a part of this community.:)

Summarizing my problem. I am working on a project called "The interactive white board". The idea of this project is that we have a projector connected to a laptop and we have a webcam steered at the same surface that the projector is projecting the image on. Then we have a laser pointer pointed at that same surface so the webcam should detect the laser point and send its position to an app which will move the mouse according to that position.

I already know how to get the part about moving the mouse done, but since I have no experience with the JMF I have no idea how to detect the laser point. So please help.
